- Does the center of the Earth have a fiery core?
- Why don’t we feel the Earth spin?
- What is a rock?
- What is at the bottom of the ocean?
- Why do oceans have waves?
- Why is ocean water salty?
- Why does the Earth sometimes quake?
- Where do mountains come from?
- What is inside a volcano?
- Does the Earth get heavier when a baby is born?
- How does a piece of coal become a diamond?
- Why is the sky blue?
A rock is any solid mass of mineral or mineral-like matter that occurs naturally as part of our planet.
Oceans have waves because of the wind. When the wind blows over the ocean it causes the water to move creating waves.
The earth sometimes quake because the plates are still moving and sometimes a plate will hit another plate and cause that place where that plate is to move or quake or a plate will be pullin away from another plate and while it is pulling away it will cause cracks in the earth also.
Mountains are formed by volcains and from when two or more plates or
continents hit each other they have no where else to go so the land will be pushed up and will form a mountain.
What do you mean what is inside a volcano? do you mean the lava or the diffrant parts?
igneous rocks are made from melted magma. the shiny igneous rocks are in the layers of the volcano and the more dull igneous rocks are on the outside of the volcano.
Does the center of the Earth have a fiery core?
The center of the earth is not a fiery core beacause everything is so pasked together.
we cant feel the earth spinninq because the earth moves around so slow
Earth is spinning with a speed of 460 m/s, about 1,070 mph, and on Earth we are all carried around the sun at a mean velocity of 66,600 mph. Is that slow??
zoe 5>>>>>>>>>>>
no that isnt slow but then how come we cant feel the earth spinninq
yea so if it was soo fast then we would probably feel the earth spinninq
but i guess we cant cuz of the gravity or somethinq;)
Salt in the ocean comes from rocks on land The rain that falls on the land has some dissolved carbon dioxide from the surrounding air and it has some acids in it The rain erodes the rock and the acid breaks down the rocks and carries it along in a dissolved state as ions then they are carried to the streams and rivers to the ocean which makes it salty. (The two ions that are found most often in seawater are are chloride and sodium)
Cool stuff, what’s an ion?
whats an ion??
An ion is an atom which has gained or lost one or more electrons.
ohh okk thnx!;)
depending on what latitude you are at does the speed differ because you are at a smaller circle…. like at the top of the earth like where the north pole is, it is a smaller circle so would you spin any faster or slower??
The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. as light moves through the atmosphere little of the other colors are effected by the air but blue is absorbed and then sent in different directions which is why you see blue in the sky.
Then why is it red sometime at sunrise and sunset?
Mountains do not come from anywhere, they are made by the Earth in different ways. but the movement of tectonic plates because as they crash into each other they create pressure and build up mountains.
thats pretty much true but i think there are other ways mountains form too
i’ll have to qo see about that
earth is made up of allot if things such as the atmosphere, gasses, volcanoes, rocks, lava.
earth isn’t really a fiery core it is more of a soft molten core.
at the bottom of the ocean there are black smokes which is a crack in the ocean, there is also lots of creatures that are funny looking.
waves are because of wind, as it blows across the surface of the ocean. the aster the wind the faster the wave.
no the earth does not get heavier when a baby is born because the baby is made up of things that are already on earth.. its matter which cannot be created or destroyed
why do oceans have waves?
Oceans have waves mainly because of wind. The wind blowing across the surface of the ocean causes these waves to build. The higher the wind the bigger the waves. The longer the wind blows the bigger the waves.
yea i think that 2
that wind makes the waves qo and the stronqer the wind the biqqer wave right..yea;)
well i thought the cause of waves was because of the way the earth rotates or something to do with a gravitational force..but i still also think somethin about the wind has to do with waves…possible??
oh yea i totally 4qot about the gravitational force and how the earth rotates which also can cause the waves…i think right?
Why is ocean water salty? ocean is salty because of the rocks and rain and sometimes because of the fish and mammels that need salt to live.
Why do oceans have waves? because of oceans current.
What is inside a volcano? lava, rocks, and magam is inside a volcanoe.
can water levels change depending on the amount of sediment in the ocean of eroded rock?!?!?!
Christopher, what period are you in?
i think he’s in period 4
in my class
What is the Earth made of? Well to find out I went to http://www.universetoday.com. The answer is kind of strange. But I won’t tell anyone because I want you to find out.
i’ll try it!
the earth is made of…………
32% iron
30% oxygen
15% silicion
14% magnesium
3% sulfur
2% nickel
then way smaller piles of…
-calcium
-aluminum
and other trace elements
AM I RIGHT??
Can you figure out or remember where most of the iron is?
Most of the iron is located at the core of the earth.
yea
yes….in the inner core!….i think
yeah!
qo shannie!!
Iron is the fourth most-common element and it is located in the Earth’s crust.
i wonder if you can mix iron and gold and other materials together to make a new rock??????
idk but if they did that would be so wicked ! i mean 4 real ! what would u call it ?
giron =-)
the post test was on friday right?because i missed it!and if you took the test was it easy because i am studying…
please get back to me a.s.a.p
i wonder if lightning can be different colors and if you know plz tell me at school or here ill check a.s.a.p.
An interesting question. So you’ve never actually seen different colored lightning right, just wondering if it could happen?
Well, I can’t recall ever noticing it either, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. Let me walk you through my thinking on this. Lightning is very hot so it would produce what we call full spectrum (meaning it has all the colors in the spectrum) light or white light. which is the same as the light from the sun. So maybe it works in a similar way as the light we see from the sun.
You probably have noticed that the sky sometimes changes colors, blue during most of the day, but red/yellow at dawn or dusk. You might not have noticed that the sun also changes color, white when the sun is high in the air and more yellow to red when it is low in the sky. These changes are caused by particles in the air; water and aerosols (dust and pollutants) which scatter some wavelengths of light making certain colors of the spectrum more visible than others.
If lightning works in a similar way, I think you could see different colors depending on how many of these particles are in the air and how they scatter specific wavelengths of light.
So that’s my thinking, do you think I’m right? Good scientists look for more evidence to support a theory. See what you can find that supports or doesn’t support my theory. Reply back with links to your evidence.
The sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light. The sky becomes red-orange at sunset, because the blue light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight.
The center of the earth really isn’t a fiery core, but it is a molten core.
i wonder if someone iz hit with 10,000 bolts oof lightning can it kill them or just seriously injure them
it would kill dat person!
really…are you serious; you would die!
uhhh yeeeaaaa u would die!
They would die. Duhhhhh.
yup;)
The ocean is salty because as water flows through rivers it picks up bits of mineral salts that has been eroded from rocks. Some salt has come from the rocks beneath the ocean floor dissolving.
Why is the sky blue?
A chemical reaction in the atmosphere with oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and carbon dioxide (little water vapor). Also the atmosphere scatters blue light more than any other wavelenght. OOOOOH!!!!!!! YA!!!!!
mE sMarTiCal!!!!!!!!!!!
(=PIKACHU=)
Mountains come from the fact that the continents are floating on this surface of molten material. As these things move and bump into each other, some of it is pushed up, and the areas where it’s pushed up actually become our mountains.
I found a website http://www.sciencemadesimple.com/sky_blue.html and it explains why the sky is blue, red , and all the other colors that you see when you look up at the sky all throughout the day.
Good find, glad to see you are looking for answers.
Oceans have waves mainly due to wind. The wind blowing across the surface of the ocean causes these waves to build. The higher the wind the bigger the waves. The longer the wind blows the bigger the waves. And then, when the waves reach the shore; they crest and crash. The waves also break and it looks like they’re falling into themselves.
As water flows, it picks up small amounts of mineral salts from the rocks and soil of the river beds. This salty water flows into the oceans and seas. The water in the oceans only leaves by evaporating and the freezing of polar ice, but the salt remains dissolved in the ocean it does not evaporate. So the remaining water gets saltier and saltier every time this cycle is continued.
The earth’s plates are basically floating on lava and when they collide, one goes above and the other beneath. The friction between the two creates a quick release of energy. That release causes the earth to shake.
No, the earth does not get heavier when a baby is born, because the baby is actually made from things already on the earth.
Pressure is applied to coal and because it is carbon, after the pressure is released, a diamond is formed.
Mountains come from the continents floating on molten material and bumping into each other, and the area where they have collided push up creating these mountains.
