The Challenge Was Met

Congratulations on the many fine entries in the Density Derby Challenge, you showed creativity and understanding of the principles of density. Next week we’ll continue to look at forces in fluids examining buoyancy and Bernoulli’s Principle.

Here’s a link that explains how Galileo’s thermometer works. Check it out.

hI MR gRANT This Is Symphoni In 6th period i was wondering what other objects that we needed on teh write up other thatn than observations made at teh Stations please get back to me as soon as possible also if i put regular coke adn oil in a bottle so you think they would sink then float because they both have a greater density than One ??????

    okay no
to be mean but you know thyey say that some of the greatest ideas were made in the shower ? okay this is the mean part i wanted to know if a taller person took longer to get fat because the way i was thinking is that if a person was tall then the food and other good stuff wood take longer to get to the other body parts so it would be longer for them to get fat opposed to a short person getting fat faster . 6th period heat

Yor comment was very rude and wrong to say but that might be true or the taller person might take some kind of sport say taekwondo and they bun a little bit more calories than the short person but also the taller person thyroids might not work and those help your body to burn calories so does that answer your Question =?

OK, I haven’t been online much the past couple of days, I have family in for the holidays and a number of meetings at school. So I’ll answer a bunch of comments together.

Symphoni, the requirements for the density challenge write-up are on the home page. As for your idea of the Coke and oil — test it.

To 6th period heat — you are not being mean just asking questions. Does height have an effect on obesity? How do you think you might go about finding the answer to that?

To anonymous responding to 6th period heat. You make some good points that other factors or variables, like exercise and thyroid function might affect a persons weight gain. But the question still remains — if the other variables (exercise and thyroid) were kept the same (controls) would a taller person be less likely to become overweight than a short person?

To Brandon, I did not test your entry.
